More than 300 bln euros of frozen Russian funds can be used for Ukraine's needs - European Commission president

BRUSSELS. Nov 30 (Interfax) - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has suggested using more than 300 billion euros of frozen Russian funds for assistance to Ukraine.

"We have blocked 300 billion euros of the Russian Central Bank reserves and we have frozen 19 billion euros of Russian oligarchs' money. In the short term, we could create, with our partners, a structure to manage these funds and invest them. We would then use the proceeds for Ukraine," according to her statement, published on the European Commission site.

According to her statement, the damage suffered by Ukraine since the start of the Russian special operation is estimated at 600 billion euros.

The European Union will be working with its partners to sign an international agreement to use the Russian funds, she said.
