Russian ambassador summoned to Hungarian Foreign Ministry comments on purposes of military operation in Ukraine - diplomatic mission

MOSCOW. Feb 24 (Interfax) - Russian Ambassador to Hungary Yevgeny Stanislavov has stated in the country's Foreign Ministry the Russian view of the situation in Ukraine and the purposes of the special operation conducted by Russia, the Russian diplomatic mission said.

"Russian Ambassador to Hungary Yevgeny Stanislavov was summoned to the Hungarian Foreign Ministry on February 24 to discuss the Ukraine situation. The sides exchanged their ideas about the events taking place in the country," the Russian embassy in Budapest told Interfax.

"The ambassador used the key provisions of the February 24 address by the president of the Russian Federation to explain the history and causes of the current situation in Ukraine, and also the purposes of the special operation that is now being conducted," the diplomatic mission.

Zoltan Kovacs, official spokesman for the Hungarian government, said earlier on Thursday Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto had summoned the Russian ambassador to the country and had informed him about the position of Budapest on the Russian operation in Ukraine.
