Russia registers 25,110 new Covid-19 cases, new all-time high of 895 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Oct 5 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 25,110 new cases of Covid-19 and a new all-time high of 895 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Over the past day, 25,110 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 2,110 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (8.4%)," the headquarters said.

The largest numbers of infections were registered in Moscow (3,827 vs. 4,410 the day before), St. Petersburg (1,894), and the Moscow region (1,788).

Russia also saw a new all-time high of 895 deaths. The previous record of 890 deaths was set on Sunday. In the past 24 hours, the most deaths were reported from Moscow (72), St. Petersburg (58), and the Sverdlovsk region (41).

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 7,637,427 cases of Covid-19, 211,696 deaths, and 6,759,059 recoveries, including 18,568 recoveries over the past day, among them 2,251 in Moscow.

Russian consumer health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Tuesday that Russia has performed more than 194 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 344,000 over the past day. As many as 1,349,626 people remain under medical observation.
