Maersk again launches process of liquidating Russian container shipping subsidiary

MOSCOW. May 3 (Interfax) - The sole participant in Maersk LLC (St. Petersburg) has decided to resume the process of liquidating the company after suspending it.

The decision to liquidate Maersk LLC was made by its sole shareholder on April 10, 2024, Fedresurs materials show. Claims from creditors of this company can be submitted within two months from the date of publication of the announcement; Olga Semenova has been appointed chairman of the liquidation commission.

As reported, Maersk initially decided to liquidate its Russian container shipping subsidiary in 2022. The liquidation procedure was launched in November 2022.

Due to the suspension of the company's operating activities and the start of the liquidation process, all employees of the company were dismissed by mutual agreement in February 2023, company reporting said. However, the sole participant in the company decided to cancel the liquidation procedure in June 2023 and resume activities. Meanwhile, the reporting materials said that "due to being in liquidation during the reporting period, the company did not carry out its main operating activities and did not receive revenue."

According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, 100% of the authorized capital of Maersk LLC belongs to the founder, Danish Maersk Line Agency Holding A/S (Maersk's maritime container shipping division) as of May 3. Maersk LLC was registered via the reorganization of JSC Maersk in 2014.

As reported, Danish transport and logistics company A.P. Moeller-Maersk A/S announced in 2022 that it would cease operating in Russia and notified Russian clients that it would start curtailing the company's business activities there.
