Russia proposes to EEC to establish zero duty on import of certain types of fruit purees

MOSCOW. May 3 (Interfax) - Russia has sent an initiative proposal to the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) to zero out the rate of import customs duties on certain types of fruit purees.

It has been proposed to establish a zero duty on a temporary basis on the import of apricot (EAEU HS code 2007 99 500 3), pear (2007 99 500 4), and peach (2007 99 500 5) purees, as well as products under the code 2007 500 7 (others), the EEC said.

Duty rates for these products, by decision of the EEC Council of March 17, 2022, were already set at zero, but the measure expired on April 30, 2024.

Russia also proposed eliminating the import duty on cooked or otherwise preserved bananas for three years.

"The Russian Federation's proposal is aimed at reducing the shortage of certain types of raw materials for the production of juice products on the domestic market and at supporting domestic producers," the statement says.
