Azerbaijani parliamentary election planned for November but may be held earlier - CEC chairman

BAKU. May 2 (Interfax) - While the next parliamentary election in Azerbaijan should normally take place in November 2024, as per law, it may be held earlier as well, Azerbaijani Central Election Commission Chairman Mazahir Panahov said on Thursday.

Baku is due to host the COP29 conference in November this year, which might require that the parliamentary election be brought forward, Azerbaijani media quoted Panahov as saying.

The last time Azerbaijan held an early parliamentary election was on February 9, 2020.
