Uzbekistan's portfolio of joint projects with Saudi Arabia exceeds $30 bln

TASHKENT. May 2 (Interfax) - Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Saudi Arabian Energy Minister Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud have discussed expanding interaction and implementing investment projects in Uzbekistan, the presidential press service said on Thursday.

"They discussed further enhancing practical interaction and implementing priority investment projects in Uzbekistan," the press service said.

Mirziyoyev noted the high level of trade and economic and investment cooperation that has been achieved, the press service said. "Currently, the portfolio of joint projects exceeds $30 billion," the statement said.

They highlighted the fruitful partnership with the Saudi company ACWA Power, which is the largest investor in developing the energy sector in Uzbekistan.

Agreements on implementing projects in green energy, infrastructure, healthcare and pharmaceuticals worth $18 billion are expected to be signed during the international investment forum that is taking place in Tashkent.
