EU hails progress at Azerbaijani-Armenian talks

BAKU. May 2 (Interfax) - The European Union will support Azerbaijan and Armenia in the course of peace talks, EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko said.

The EU can see that peace talks are ongoing and welcomes the progress on border delimitation, Michalko told reporters on Thursday.

The EU is ready to give further support to the Azerbaijani-Armenian peace process, he said.

The EU also plans to assist Azerbaijan in demining regained territories, Michalko said, adding that the EU is a key demining partner of Azerbaijan and their cooperation is long-term.

In April, Azerbaijan and Armenia started clarifying border coordinates in the course of delimitation, using geodetic measurements as a basis. Over half of the work was completed and 35 border pillars were installed by April 29.
