Kyrgyz PM, Uzbek president discuss major infrastructure projects

BISHKEK. May 2 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev have held talks in Tashkent, the Kyrgyz government's press service said on Thursday.

"Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov met with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a working visit to Tashkent," the press service said.

The parties discussed steps to advance trade and economic relations and boost bilateral trade, as well as the joint implementation of large investment and infrastructure projects and cooperation in the energy sector, transport, logistics, culture, and humanitarian affairs, it said.

Japarov and Mirziyoyev also discussed the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan transcontinental railroad, the Kambarata 1 Dam, and a future project to build two hydropower plants on the Chatkal river.
