United States imposes sanctions against Karalveem Mine gold miner

MOSCOW. May 2 (Interfax) - The United States has imposed sanctions against the Karalveem Mine gold miner, the United States Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) said.

Karalveem mines gold in Chukotka and is among Russia's top 30 gold miners.

The mine is under the management of the Golden Projects company of the Leviev family. According to a report, Yaboki Limited remained the sole shareholder of the mine at the end of last year. Yaboki Limited re-domiciled from Cyprus to the Kaliningrad special administrative region (SAR) as an international company in 2022, and changed its status to a LLC in 2023. Ayelet Leviev Jacobson, an Israeli citizen, is the ultimate beneficiary of the Karalveem Mine.
