U.S. expands sanctions against Russia with Pobeda airline, number of enterprises

WASHINGTON. May 2 (Interfax) - The United States broadened sanctions against Russia with about 300 individuals and legal entities on Wednesday, the U.S. Department of the Treasury said.

For instance, restrictions have been imposed on the Pobeda airline.

The restrictions apply to several enterprises, among them the Ural Automobile Plant, the Bryansk Automobile Plant, the Yaroslavl Motor Plant, the Fryazino High-Power Transistor Plant, the Vladimir Precision Alloy Plant, and the Proton Plant.

IBS Group's Sibanthracite and Astra Group are among the sanctioned companies.

Over ten sea vessels are added to the lists, as well.

"Today's actions target Russia's military-industrial base and chemical and biological weapons programs as well as companies and individuals in third countries that help Russia acquire key inputs for weapons or defense-related production," the department said.

Besides Russian companies, sanctions were imposed on enterprises of other countries, among them China and Turkey.
