European politicians understand impact of sanctions on LNG from Russia; do not want repeat of crisis until 2027 - TotalEnergies

MOSCOW. April 26 (Interfax) - European politicians understand the potential impact of sanctions on liquefied natural gas from Russia, and do not want a repeat of the gas crisis of 2022, TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanne said.

Pouyanne told investors during a conference call that if sanctions are imposed on Russian LNG, then the price of gas would rise very quickly, and they understand in Europe that LNG is saving the European gas market.

Pouyanne also said that significant volumes of LNG from new projects would enter the market beginning in 2027.
