LPR resident gets 12 years in prison for high treason
LUHANSK. May 8 (Interfax) - The military court of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) has sentenced a resident of the LPR to 12 years in prison for high treason, the press service for the LPR Prosecutor General's Office said.
"The military court of the Luhansk People's Republic has found the resident of the republic guilty of committing an especially grave crime against the foundations of the constitutional system and state security envisaged by Article 335 of the LPR Criminal Code," the LPR Prosecutor General's Office press service said.
"The defendant is sentenced to 12 years in prison for high treason, which was manifested in the provision to representatives of a foreign intelligence organization of information constituting a state secret," the press service said.
The defense lawyers have filed an appeal asking for the sentence to be softened, the press service said. "However, the appellate court upheld the court decision. The convict has now been sent to a penal colony to serve her sentence there," the press service said.
