Zelensky's advisor says weekend inauguration to help avoid transport collapse in Kyiv
KYIV. May 14 (Interfax) - The team of Ukrainian President-elect Volodymyr Zelensky wants the inauguration to take place on May 19 in order to minimize the negative impact on traffic and to avoid a transport collapse in the center of Kyiv.
"We are fully aware that any events and visits of foreign guests entail traffic restrictions in Kyiv. The inauguration day means a transport collapse in the city center because traffic will be blocked everywhere. Seeking to minimize the negative effect, Volodymyr Oleksandrovych has proposed that the ceremony take place on weekend or, to be more exact, on May 19," Zelensky's advisor Dmytro Razumkov said in the Svoboda Slova talk show on Monday.
He said the inauguration must not create discomfort for Kyiv residents.
"If the Rada had met earlier and had scheduled [the inauguration] for another day, it would have been more convenient and better to hold the ceremony earlier," Razumkov said.
He denied the allegations that foreign delegations will experience difficulties with attending Zelensky's inauguration.
