Ankara summit may address attack on Saudi Aramco facilities - Peskov (Part 2)
MOSCOW. Sept 16 (Interfax) - The meeting between the leaders of Russia, Turkey and Iran in Ankara may address the attack on the Saudi Aramco facilities, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
"It is not planned [to discuss the issue] separately, but there is probably a traditional exchange of opinions on the most vital issues. I can assume that this issue will be addressed," Peskov told reporters on Monday.
He was asked whether Russia can increase oil extraction now to reduce the global prices on this product.
"It is necessary to wait first. Saudi Arabia says they will be restoring the volumes in the near future. Therefore, it is necessary just to wait to see what the Saudis can do and then closely follow the developments on the oil market. No doubt, it is now influenced [following the attack on the Saudi Aramco facilities," Peskov said.
The enterprises of Saudi Aramco, a national oil company of Saudi Arabia, were attacked by drones in the early hours of September 14. In particular, one of the world's largest oil refineries, located in the eastern part of the country, was attacked. As a result, oil extraction was halved in Saudi Arabia, by 5.7 million barrels per day.
